So you want to buy an import? Well purchasing an imported vehicle is basically the same as purchasing one which is assembled locally (South Africa). With the sudden wave of import coming into Botswana over the past five years the demand for spares both body and engine become strong and so spares started being imported into the country aswell. Now almost every spare part can be found for various grey model vehicles. There are some cons for the imports as opposed to the local models which i would like to list below but remember the pros are even greater. 

• Use to have difficulty in getting finance but this isn't a problem anymore.
• Crash safety level may not be as good as the local spec.

• The vehicle handbook is most likely to be in Japanese.
  
• The mileage cannot be guaranteed.

• They much cheaper than local models.
• They come with fairy new electronics/features  even in the old models
• Performance may be higher than local models.
• You can buy models that are not available locally

Most vehicles come from either Japan or Singapore. The Japanese vehicles are more solid and usually slightly more expensive but if you had the choice between the two I would recommened the Japanese version.
